Best Date Night Spots Near Valrico and Brandon: 8 Places Worth Getting a Sitter

Let's be honest: date night in Valrico can default to the same three places on a loop. You love each other. You love your kids. But if you eat at the same chain restaurant one more Friday night, someone's going to lose it.

Good news -- there are legitimately great date night options within 15 minutes of Valrico that go beyond the Applebee's-to-movie pipeline. Here are eight spots that locals actually dress up for.

1. Allegria Italiana (Brandon)

Where: 518 Oakfield Dr, Brandon, FL 33511

This is the spot when you want to feel like you're somewhere other than suburban Tampa. Allegria does upscale Italian with a real wine list, housemade pasta, and a dining room that's dim enough to be romantic but bright enough to read the menu. The osso buco and the lobster ravioli are standouts. Reservations recommended on Friday and Saturday nights.

Vibe: White tablecloth without the stuffiness. You can wear jeans, but you'll want to wear something nicer.

2. Stonewood Grill & Tavern (Brandon)

Where: 612 E Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, FL 33511

Stonewood's oak-grilled steaks are the draw here, and they take their wine list seriously -- including some rare selections you won't find at most suburban restaurants. The bar area is a great pre-dinner hangout. The filet mignon and oak-grilled salmon are consistently good.

Vibe: Upscale-casual. Perfect for anniversaries or "we need to reconnect" dinners.

3. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse (Brandon)

Where: 2210 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511

If your idea of date night involves watching a chef flip shrimp into his hat and set an onion volcano on fire, Kobe is your spot. The teppanyaki experience is fun, interactive, and takes the pressure off quiet-table small talk. The food is solid -- filet, lobster, and the fried rice is better than it has any right to be.

Vibe: Lively and fun. Good for couples who want entertainment with dinner.

4. Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen (Brandon)

Where: 1721 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511

Tibby's brings a taste of the French Quarter to Brandon with scratch-made Cajun and Creole classics. The jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and beignets are all excellent. The bar serves creative cocktails with a New Orleans twist. It's family-owned, and the hospitality shows.

Vibe: Warm, lively, and a little quirky. Great for couples who want something different.

5. Bin & Board (Brandon)

Where: 807 W Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, FL 33511

The most underrated date spot in the area. Bin & Board is a wine bar and charcuterie concept with a curated selection of wines, craft beer, and beautifully assembled cheese and charcuterie boards. It's intimate, it's quiet, and it feels a world away from the strip malls outside. Perfect for a long, slow evening of conversation.

Vibe: Elegant and relaxed. One reviewer nailed it: "an elegant date night option out here in Tampa suburbia."

6. The Landing Bar & Grill (Valrico)

Where: 4351 Lynx Paw Trl, Valrico, FL 33596

If you want to stay in Valrico proper, The Landing is the go-to. It's a full bar and grill with a lively atmosphere, friendly staff, and a patio that's great on cooler evenings. The menu covers burgers, wings, and pub fare, but it's the vibe and live music nights that make it a date spot rather than just a restaurant.

Vibe: Casual and fun. Good for the "we don't want to overthink this" date night.

7. Bahama Breeze Island Grille (Brandon)

Where: 805 Brandon Town Center Dr, Brandon, FL 33511

Bahama Breeze does tropical Caribbean-inspired food with live music on the patio several nights a week. The jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and rum-based cocktails transport you to island time. It's a chain, yes, but the live music and outdoor seating make it feel more special than most.

Vibe: Tropical and festive. The patio with live steel drums on a warm evening is hard to beat.

8. Bulla Gastrobar (Tampa - Worth the Drive)

Where: 930 S Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33606

Okay, this one's a 25-minute drive. But if you're doing a real date night -- anniversary, birthday, "we haven't been out in three months" -- Bulla is worth it. It's a Spanish-influenced gastrobar with shareable plates, craft cocktails, and an atmosphere that feels like a night out in a real city. The patatas bravas, Iberico ham croquettes, and paella are outstanding.

Vibe: Trendy, buzzy, sophisticated. The kind of place that makes you feel like you're on vacation.

Date Night Tips for Valrico Parents

  • Book a sitter early. Friday and Saturday nights fill up fast with local sitter networks. The FishHawk and Bloomingdale Facebook groups often have sitter recommendations.
  • Make reservations. Allegria and Stonewood can have 45-minute waits on weekends without one.
  • Combine dinner with something else. Grab dessert at a different spot, or take a walk at the Westfield Brandon mall area after dinner. Two locations makes it feel more like an event.
  • Don't forget weeknight dates. Tuesday and Wednesday are the secret date nights -- shorter waits, quieter restaurants, and you still feel like you did something.

Getting out without the kids doesn't have to mean driving to South Tampa or Ybor. Valrico and Brandon have more than enough to make a Friday night feel special. Now go call the sitter.
