Scandinavian Designs Opens Its First Florida Store in Brandon

October 15, 2025

If you've driven past Lake Brandon Village on Causeway Boulevard lately, you've probably noticed the new tenant in the space where Buy Buy Baby used to be. Scandinavian Designs — a modern and contemporary furniture retailer — opened its first-ever Florida location right here in Brandon, and it's a big deal for the area.

A 35,000-Square-Foot Showroom

The new store sits at 11345 Causeway Blvd. in Brandon, nestled between Lowe's and Sprouts in the Lake Brandon Village shopping center. At 35,000 square feet, it's a substantial showroom filled with the kind of clean-lined, modern furniture that the brand is known for on the West Coast.

Scandinavian Designs has been around since the 1960s, building a loyal following in California, Oregon, Washington, and other western states. The Brandon location marks the company's first step into the Florida market — and the fact that they chose eastern Hillsborough County over downtown Tampa or St. Pete says something about the growth and buying power in our area.

What You'll Find Inside

The store carries a full range of home furnishings — sofas, dining tables, bedroom sets, home office furniture, and accent pieces. The aesthetic leans modern Scandinavian, which means lots of natural materials, clean lines, and a focus on quality craftsmanship.

Price points range from accessible to investment-level pieces. You can find a well-designed accent chair for a few hundred dollars or a full living room set that runs into the thousands. The quality is a noticeable step up from the typical big-box furniture store.

For Valrico and Brandon residents who previously had to drive to Tampa or order online for this kind of modern furniture, having a showroom this close to home is a genuine convenience upgrade.

Why Brandon?

It's a fair question. With all the growth happening in Tampa's urban core, why would a national furniture retailer plant its Florida flag in Brandon?

The short answer: demographics. Eastern Hillsborough County — Brandon, Valrico, FishHawk, Riverview — is packed with homeowners in their 30s through 50s who are actively furnishing and upgrading homes. The median home price in Valrico sits around $430,000 to $450,000, and FishHawk Ranch averages north of $550,000. Those are homeowners who spend money on quality furniture.

The Lake Brandon Village location also offers easy access from I-75 and State Road 60, putting the store within a 15-minute drive for much of eastern Hillsborough County.

The Buy Buy Baby Backstory

The space had been vacant since Buy Buy Baby closed as part of the broader Bed Bath & Beyond bankruptcy in 2023. For nearly two years, the empty storefront was a visible reminder of the retail shakeout that hit Brandon Town Center and the surrounding shopping areas. Seeing a quality retailer fill that space is a positive sign for the commercial health of the Causeway Boulevard corridor.

Hours and Details

Scandinavian Designs Brandon is open seven days a week. You can browse their full catalog online at scandinaviandesigns.com, but honestly, furniture is one of those things you really need to see and sit on in person. If you're in the market for anything from a new sofa to a complete room makeover, it's worth the trip.
