What's happening in our community

Business Is Booming in Our Backyard

Great news for anyone who loves supporting local entrepreneurs — our community continues to thrive with fresh business activity. The Chamber of Commerce is making it easier than ever to connect with fellow business owners through their four weekly networking groups. Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, these gatherings are solid opportunities to build relationships, share ideas, and grow your network right here in our backyard.

Over in Riverview, there's real momentum happening too. October brought some interesting developments in the local business scene, and it's exciting to see our neighboring communities staying active and innovative. When nearby areas succeed, we all benefit from that economic energy and community spirit.

Infrastructure Improvements Moving Forward

One project I've been keeping my eye on is the Brandon Boulevard tunnel restoration work. What I appreciate most is that businesses are staying open during the renovation — that's smart planning. Construction projects can sometimes feel disruptive, but when they're managed well, they show our local government is committed to maintaining the quality of our community while keeping commerce flowing. These kinds of infrastructure improvements pay dividends in the long run, making our area more attractive and functional for residents and visitors alike.

Community Engagement at Its Best

If you're thinking about getting more involved in our community, now's a perfect time. The School Board includes dedicated representatives like Daniela Simic, who's working hard in District 2. Staying informed about education and local governance matters, especially during election season, is how we all help shape the future of Valrico and Hillsborough County.

The Chamber's networking groups I mentioned earlier are worth highlighting again — they're really the backbone of small business community here. Whether you're in real estate like me, retail, services, or any other industry, these connections matter. They're where deals happen, friendships form, and ideas come to life.

Real Estate Notes

The Brandon area continues to show steady interest as we head into the final months of 2026. Homes here offer excellent value, and the combination of growing business activity plus ongoing infrastructure improvements makes this a smart time for buyers to explore what's available. If you've been on the fence about Valrico or Brandon, inventory is solid right now.

What Makes This Community Special

Living and working here in Valrico, I'm constantly reminded why people choose to build their lives in this area. We've got active business leaders, engaged community members, and local government that's invested in making things better. The networking opportunities, business growth, and commitment to infrastructure improvement all point to a community that's moving in a positive direction.

Whether you're already here or considering a move to the area, these are the kinds of developments that matter. They're not flashy headlines, but they're the real foundation of a thriving community — people doing the work, businesses opening their doors, and neighbors supporting each other.

Looking Ahead

October is always an energizing month in Florida. The weather's getting better, people are more active in their communities, and there's genuine momentum in local business circles. If you've been meaning to get more connected to what's happening around here, check out those Chamber networking groups or attend a local event.

And if you're thinking about real estate — whether that's buying, selling, or just exploring what's out there — I'm always happy to chat about what's happening in our market and what might be right for your situation.

Thanks for staying connected to all things Valrico. See you around town.
