FishHawk Ranch Community Update: Bridge Project, Pool Contractor Changes, and Sports Complex Improvements
March 20, 2026
Spring 2026 brings a mix of construction, improvements, and transitions for FishHawk Ranch residents. Here's a roundup of the biggest community developments you should know about.
Heron Glen/Tealrise Bridge Replacement
The most visible project right now is the Heron Glen/Tealrise bridge replacement. Hecker Construction has begun work on the project, with removal of the existing bridge starting on March 17, 2026, followed by construction of a new bridge.
If you use this bridge as part of your daily route, you'll need to plan alternate routes during construction. The FishHawk Ranch CDD (Community Development District) has been communicating updates through its monthly newsletter — check fishhawkranchcdd.org for the latest timeline and detour information.
Bridge projects in residential communities are always disruptive, but the replacement was necessary. The existing structure had reached the point where repair was no longer the most cost-effective option.
Aquatic Facilities: New Contractor Coming
FishHawk Ranch faced an unexpected challenge in summer 2025 when the contractor who had been maintaining the community's pools suddenly resigned. The timing — right at the start of pool season — couldn't have been worse.
The CDD moved quickly to contract with a new provider, but the transition wasn't seamless. Some residents experienced reduced hours and maintenance issues during the changeover period.
Heading into the 2026 pool season, the new contractor should be fully established. The CDD has indicated that maintaining consistent, high-quality pool operations is a top priority for the year. For a community where the pools are a central amenity — and a big part of what people pay their CDD fees for — getting this right matters.
FishHawk Sports Complex Improvements
The FishHawk Sports Complex, the largest sports facility in southern Hillsborough County, has received several upgrades:
- Batting cages at the softball fields have been fully rebuilt
- Field resodding in areas with heavy wear to improve playability
- Storm damage repairs — post-hurricane restoration work has been completed
- Schedule coordination — staff have been working more closely with both softball and baseball leagues to balance field access
The complex serves more than 2,000 athletes ages 5-19 each year and is the second-largest sports complex in all of Hillsborough County, behind only the Ed Radice Sports Complex.
Hillsborough County is also actively seeking resident input on the future of the complex. A survey has been distributed to help shape plans for baseball and softball facility improvements. If you're involved in youth sports at FishHawk, filling out that survey is the best way to make sure your family's needs are represented.
CDD Newsletter: Your Best Source
The FishHawk Ranch CDD publishes a monthly newsletter that is the most reliable source for community updates. Recent editions have covered everything from bridge construction timelines to amenity schedules to board meeting summaries.
Newsletters from July 2025 through February 2026 are all available on the CDD website. If you're not already reading them, you should be — especially during a period with this many active projects.
What's Ahead
Between the bridge project, the pool contractor transition, and the sports complex survey, spring 2026 is a busy period for FishHawk Ranch governance. The CDD board meets regularly, and those meetings are open to residents.
If you have concerns about any of these projects — or anything else in the community — attending a board meeting or contacting the CDD directly is the most effective way to be heard.
