Are fireworks legal in Hillsborough County?
Answered by Amanda P.
Fireworks laws in Florida are complicated — consumer fireworks are technically illegal in Florida without a signed waiver stating a lawful purpose (agricultural use, etc.), but the law is widely ignored and enforcement is inconsistent. Hillsborough County prohibits the discharge of fireworks in most residential and unincorporated areas regardless of state law. Professional displays require permits. During drought conditions, outdoor burning and fireworks restrictions can be increased by emergency order. Bottom line: check with your HOA and local fire station before lighting anything.
