What does the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser do?
Answered by Mark D.
The Hillsborough County Property Appraiser's office determines the assessed value of all real property in the county for tax purposes. They are also responsible for homestead exemptions and other property tax exemptions. You can look up any property's assessed value, ownership, and sales history at HCPAonline.com. If you believe your home is over-assessed, you can file a VAB (Value Adjustment Board) petition. This office does not set tax rates — that is done by county commissioners and school boards.
