What's happening in our community

Valrico This Week — June 22, 2026

Well folks, it's been quite a week in our corner of Florida, and I'm choosing to focus on the good stuff because honestly, that's what keeps me going. Let me share some heartwarming stories that remind me why I love this community.

Pet Lovers, Rejoice

The Sarasota Humane Society just had a record-breaking adoption weekend, and my heart is so full right now. If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with my three dogs, and seeing animals find their forever homes is basically the highlight of my week. If you've been thinking about adding a furry family member, this is the perfect time to check out what they have available. Nothing beats the feeling of giving a pet a second chance at happiness.

Smart Shopping at Aldi

Here's something I'm genuinely excited about — Aldi is giving away free grocery blind boxes this week. My husband James and I are always looking for ways to stretch our budget without sacrificing quality, so this feels like a win. Whether you're stocking up on weeknight dinners or grabbing a few extras for the pantry, it's worth popping in and seeing what you can snag. Free groceries? Don't mind if I do.

Community Heroes in Action

One story that really got me thinking about the goodness in our region is a Lakeland family who turned their grief into purpose. After losing their daughter in a car crash, they donated ICU bags to help other families during their most difficult moments. That's the kind of legacy that matters — taking something heartbreaking and channeling it into helping others. It's a powerful reminder of how resilient and compassionate our community truly is.

The Real Estate Pulse

Speaking of community, if you're thinking about making a move to or within the Valrico and Brandon area, now's a solid time to explore your options. Our market continues to reflect strong interest from families looking for that perfect blend of suburban comfort and proximity to Tampa's amenities. Whether you're upgrading, downsizing, or making your first move into the area, I'm seeing steady activity and reasonable inventory — reach out if you'd like to chat about what's available.

Why We Love It Here

You know what strikes me most about weeks like this? Even when news cycles can feel heavy, our community keeps showing up for each other. We've got people donating their time and resources, neighbors looking out for neighbors, and families making thoughtful decisions about where to build their futures.

Living here in Valrico with James and our dogs, I genuinely feel part of something special. Sure, we're close enough to Tampa for all the urban conveniences, but we've got that real community feel that's becoming harder to find. The people here care — about animals, about each other, about making things better.

If you've been on the fence about joining us here in the Valrico area, I'm telling you, it's worth the move. Great schools, solid neighborhoods, and a genuine sense of belonging. Plus, we've got Aldi running specials. Can't beat that.
