This week has been a reminder of exactly why I love this community. From youth advocacy to honoring those who've served, our area is buzzing with genuine compassion and celebration. Let me walk you through what's been happening around town.

Community Care Takes Center Stage

Inspira is making real waves supporting neurodivergent and at-risk children in our region. It's work like this that strengthens the foundation of our neighborhoods, ensuring every kid has the support they need to thrive. When families feel secure and supported, communities flourish, and that's something I see reflected in the stability of our local housing market.

Speaking of support systems, the Brandon Family Resource Center just opened with an honor to Judge Katherine Essrig. These kinds of resources are invaluable for families navigating challenges, and it's fantastic to see our area investing in infrastructure that genuinely helps people.

Honoring Our Heroes

Veteran women in our area are invited to a second annual Friendsgiving in Brandon. There's something special about gathering with others who share your experience, and I'm grateful our community continues to prioritize ways to celebrate and support those who've served.

Fighting Hunger, Building Hope

Our local Food Bank is expanding programs to reach seniors and students, two populations that are often overlooked when it comes to food security. Hunger shouldn't be a barrier for anyone in our community, and this expansion is a powerful move toward making sure it isn't.

Then there's the Giving Machine, a unique initiative offering gifts for those in need. I love when our community gets creative about compassion. This kind of grassroots innovation says volumes about who we are.

Celebrating Our Heroes, Both Everyday and Iconic

One of our Newsome teachers recently won $500 in a nationwide giveaway. Teachers pour everything into their work, so seeing them recognized and rewarded hits different. They shape our future every single day.

The Lions Club is keeping a holiday tradition alive with their Luminaria Project. These seasonal touches turn our neighborhoods into something magical, and volunteer-led initiatives like this are what keep Valrico feeling like home.

And can we talk about this for a second: Make-A-Wish helped a Valrico teen step into an NFL broadcasting booth. That's not just wish fulfillment, that's life-changing. Stories like this remind us that we live in a community where dreams are taken seriously.

A Little Cultural Magic

The Tampa Theatre is celebrating 100 years of movie magic. A century of entertaining our region is no small thing. That kind of longevity speaks to how much this institution means to Tampa Bay families, and it's worth celebrating.

Community Love In Action

The Mrs. Roper Romp event is back to support Forgotten Angels. When events return year after year, it means they matter to people. It means our community shows up for causes that deserve support.

Real Estate Snapshot

If you've been thinking about buying or selling in Valrico or Brandon, now's a solid time to have that conversation. We're seeing steady interest from people drawn to our strong sense of community, which you can clearly see reflected in everything happening around town this week. Our neighborhood stability and active civic life continue to be major draws for families looking to put down roots here.

What's Making Me Smile

Honestly, this week reinforced why I chose to make Valrico my home and my business. We've got organizations supporting kids with different needs, we're showing up for veterans, we're addressing hunger, and we're celebrating wins both big and small. That's the kind of place this is.

If you're thinking about joining a community like this, I'd love to talk through what's available in our market. And if you're already here, take a moment to support one of these organizations or events. That's how we keep Valrico the place we all love.

See you around town.
