A Real Art Studio — In Someone's Home

Most parents looking for kids' art classes in Valrico end up scrolling through chain options or driving to Tampa. Twinkle Art Studio is something different — a dedicated in-home studio right here in Valrico, near Mulrennan Middle School, where kids actually learn to draw and paint in classes capped at six students.

Sheila Jones runs the studio. She has been teaching art to children for over a decade across private schools and homeschool organizations in the area. She is a third-generation artist who has lived in the Brandon area for over 30 years and illustrated a children's book, Here's the Deal… Moose Aren't Real, in 2021. This is not a side hustle — it is her craft.

What Classes Are Available?

Ages 5.5 to 12 — Foundation Classes

Students build a strong foundation in drawing and painting. They learn eye-hand coordination, explore the color wheel, study famous artists and illustrators, and create seasonal projects on paper and canvas. The focus is on building confidence as much as skill.

Ages 12 to 15 — Elements of Art

Older students explore the seven elements of art: line, shape, form, perspective, value, color, and texture. Projects use oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolors, and acrylic paints. They study different artists from history and learn techniques like the grid method and color theory.

Private Lessons

One-on-one sessions customized to what the student wants to learn — grid method drawing, painting from a photo, or a particular style. Six-week sessions run $300 with all materials included. Group paint parties are also available depending on scheduling.

Introductory Session

Not sure if it is a good fit? Schedule a one-time introductory lesson for $25. Your student gets a drawing lesson, a copy of Sheila's illustrated book, and a chance to see the studio and ask questions before committing to a full semester. Parents are required to stay. Up to 6 participants per family, ages 5 and up.

Why It Matters

Valrico does not have a lot of options for kids' art education. The big franchise art places are a 20-minute drive, charge more, and pack 15 kids into a room. Twinkle Art Studio is the opposite — small classes, real instruction, and a teacher who has been doing this for years in the same community.
