It's been a heavy week in our corner of Hillsborough County, folks. While we've got some really positive things happening in the community—like celebrating our nation's 250th birthday and recognizing some outstanding high school graduates—the news cycle has been dominated by a string of serious traffic incidents that hit closer to home than any of us would like.

A DUI-related crash in Lutz left two people dead and resulted in an arrest. Meanwhile, Tampa police are actively searching for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run, and Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle collision in Wesley Chapel where the driver reportedly left the scene.

Then there's the incident in St. Pete where a car crashed into a home and caught it on fire, with the driver still unaccounted for. These aren't just statistics—they're real tragedies affecting real families in our area.

What strikes me about all this is the reminder we all need that the roads we drive on daily deserve our full attention and respect.
